"Why did Grandpa go to Africa?"
A MEMOIR

About the book
A 'new South Africa' was born in 1994 when Nelson Mandela was elected the first black President in their first democratic elections. In 1995 I stepped into this world in Johannesburg and was nearly murdered in broad daylight. Through the grace of God I survived only to be robbed later. This book takes you with me into Africa whose peoples I have loved since my childhood. The adventure moves from South Africa to Zambia then to Kenya and finally to Uganda. Amazing events transpire as I confront another life-threatening event, the reality of the refugee crisis and the HIV/Aids pandemic. After visiting many countries including Hungary, Austria and France, I was blessed by a unique experience in Israel which led me to a short sojourn in Oxford. Returning to Australia homeless, it has taken me all these years to share this fascinating true story.
